How to Paint the Interior Rooms in a House

Sep 9

You can paint your interior whether you are a new homeowner or renovating. Painting is one of those tedious jobs that's easier to have someone else do it.

Here's a list of rooms and the frequency at which they should be painted.

Painting the kitchen, bathrooms & laundry rooms

These rooms are the most frequent to be painted. They are also the most frequented. These rooms are also more likely to be painted than the rest of your house because they receive a lot of traffic.

It is advisable that your Denver home painter use durable paints in these rooms. The kitchen should have a pearl or satin-finish finish. You can expect to have to paint these rooms about every 3-4 year. Good ventilation will allow humidity to escape and prolong the time between paintings.

Many homeowners will notice cracking in their walls and drywall screws "popping" from the walls as the house settles. These issues are not paint related, but should be resolved prior to the next painting project. Before any painting can begin, be sure to tell your painter about any of these issues.

Adult and Children Bedrooms

The adult bedroom is usually the room with the longest paint life, but the children's space is the exact opposite.

Children's rooms are often used as playrooms, and many of them suffer a lot from abuse. It is a good idea to use premium paint with a higher sheen. This can be discussed in detail with your Painting Company. You can have fun with colors but make sure to use long-lasting, durable paints. We recommend that the room be painted more often than other bedrooms. It should be done every 2-3 years.

Paint the Living Room & Dining Room

The living room has a lot of traffic, but they don't require painting as often as other rooms, except when there is remodeling, fixing walls, or a change in decor.

Many dining rooms can now be used as study spaces, offices, or secondary activity rooms. If you're changing the function of the space, it's a great opportunity to repair any wall damage or repaint.

The living room should be painted every 5-7 and the dining room every 7-10 years.

Hallways & Corridors

The walls of a home are subject to the most wear and tear. These areas are most commonly walked. These areas can be damaged by people's dirty hands, pets, guests, and lugging items. The surface will show scuff marks, fingerprints, and possible cracks. You can wash these walls if it was high quality, washable paint or high traffic, high-gloss paint.

We recommend keeping your hallways and corridors clean, washed and then painted every 2-3 years.
